Dereel

It's that time of the month again! There will be another car boot sale at the old Dereel shop on Saturday the 24th of September from 9am until 1pm. Be sure to check it out.

The Rokewood tower construction has begun and it looks like it might not be much of a wait for completion. If you'd like to visit the tower it's at the corner of Dark Ln and Halls Hill Rd. I've been assured by Telstra that Dereel is high in their priority list and we should hear more about our tower soon. In the meantime the tower in Rokewood will hopefully help those of us who are using external antennas to improve our mobile reception.[gallery link="file" columns="2"]

I'm sure I'm not the only person to receive a "Budget News" flyer from Darren Cheeseman extolling all the good things he has done and is doing, none of which apply to me. Does this herald a new federal election?

Now is probably the time to remind him of the "progress" that the National Broadband Network has made in Dereel. Until last week we had the remote hope of good WiMAX wireless networking (nearly as good as ADSL). But the NBN has scrapped that, and all they will subsidise is satellite. I wrote Darren a letter about this last year, to which (uniquely for politicians) I received no reply. I've sent him another one today. Clearly the more who jump on this bandwagon, the more he's likely to listen.
