Domain squatters put value on savedereel.com

After the Dereel Anti-Tower Alliance (DATA) let their domain (savedereel.com) lapse it appears domain squatters have pounced on it. Out of interest I contacted the domain squatters to find out how much they were asking for the domain (I would never entertain the idea of dealing with a domain squatter but I was interested in their valuation), here is the response I got:

The owner of this domain has responded with a asking price set at $1250 USD. To make an offer, reply to this email with the offer you would like me to present to the owner of the domain.

So it appears DATA were sitting on a little gold mine! Shame they abandoned it so quickly after losing their fight. Of course now that DATA have shuttered their website it's difficult to get updates about them so if you have any news on what DATA is up to these days please post it below in the comments - I'm sure we're all very interested. Lets hope they join twitter one day.

Telstra Community Meeting

Tomorrow, Wednesday 11th of December at 6pm representatives from Telstra will be attending a community meeting in the Dereel Hall where they will listen to the community regarding our needs for mobile phone service. Please come and show your support and discuss the issue of mobile phone service in Dereel.

NBN tower is erected

A month to the day after we reported that the foundations were in we now have our radiation tower proudly standing. It will still be some time before we'll be able to sign up for NBN service (the equipment building still isn't on site for example) but I think the estimate NBNco initially offered us is still viable: NBN service by the end of the year. This will certainly make a good Christmas present for Dereel residents.

NBN tower construction commenced

In case you haven't driven passed the tower site recently you'll be pleased to know that construction has started and hopefully Dereel residents will be able sign up for NBN service before the end of the year. Here's hoping anyway!
